Monday, July 11 update

Mon. 7/11
It has been exactly five months now since Kenn's accident.
On Thurs. 7/7, Kenn had a doctor appointment at Dean with a
neurologist.
This doctor ordered an MRI done to see in detail what is going
on in his brain.  He says he doesn't want to say much until
he sees the MRI. This is the same doctor that gives a report of a
bleak outcome for the future from looking at the CT Scans. 
His MRI is scheduled for 7/22 at St. Mary's Hospital as
an outpatient.  
At the doctors appointment, Kenn did get very agitated, he
stiffened his legs up and he was sweating alot.  The doctor said he
had never heard of the term "neurostorming".

On 7/8, the therapist wrote in Kenn's notebook that he stayed
alert for most of the occupational therapy session.  When he
started neck stretches, the therapist touched the
back of his neck for a short massage.  He lifted his head, opened
his eyes wide and lifted right side of mouth into what appeared
to be a smile.  He completed eye contact when yes/no questions
were asked, with head raised.

On Sun. 7/10, when I visited, he was neurostorming.  He was
all sweaty and stiffened up.  He relaxed after the nurse gave
him some medication.  He dozed a little and then he would open
his eyes and look to see if I was still there.  After they got
him up in his wheelchair I cut his hair for him.  He tried dozing
through his haircut.  He does tire very quickly, which
is normal for a brain injured person. 
They need lots of sleep.
