Yesterday when Jeremy and I visited Kenn he was
having physical therapy. The therapist said she
is not using the standing table right now because
of the cast on his right foot. She thinks it would
be very uncomfortable to stand on it, so he is having
therapy on a mat. He did sit and balance himself on
the edge of the mat with no help. He hunched forward
a little but he did sit. When she had him lay down on
his side to work his legs she felt he was trying to help
her bend his leg and straighten it at times. They have
not seen any kind of response that is consistant at this
time, which is not unusual.
He still does help them do pivotal transfers during
physical therapy. They also are working on having
him hold on to the arm of his wheelchair when they
help him out of it. When putting him back into bed
they have him put his elbow and lower arm down on the
bed to help him lower himself to a laying position.
They have cut the first cast off his right foot to
check his skin, which is doing fine. A new cast was
put on his right foot. There is talk of him needing
a cast on his left foot but that's down the road.
