Saturday, September 23, 2006 Update
Kenn is still doing great. No storming for over a month. I went to
spend some time with him the evening of our anniversary which
was the 21. I spoke with the nurse Brenda, who was on duty for
the evening. She told me that when she went into his room to give
him medications she was walking around talking to him. She
watched him follow her with his eyes. She said he acted like he
was just so happy that someone was spending time talking to him.
She also said she tries to take even like 5 extra minutes to talk to him.
She agrees that he comprehends most of what he hears. He was very
alert and looking all around. I sat talking to him about some things
in the past that he liked. He started moving his tongue and mouth.
He was trying to talk so bad he was even making a noise in his throat.
The look on his face told me too that he wanted to tell me something,
so he is trying again. The CNA saw him moving his mouth and tongue
and the look, she agreed he was trying to say something. He hasn't
done this for awhile until now. It was an encouraging evening for me
but emotional. As for dance, I've stepped up my private lessons to
2 a week for a short time. Two a week really makes a difference
in addition to the group lessons. It's fun. We finally were able to
sell Kenn's work van. No more van sitting on my front lawn.
PRAISE GOD!!! I have also written a fact sheet about Kenn and
tacked it up on his board in his room for the nurse's, the activity people
or anyone else so they have things they can talk to him about. They
were glad to hear it's there. Carol
