Thursday, November 3 update
I spoke with the nurse who took care of Kenn last night,
which happened to be the same one he had on Fri. night
when he was admitted. I asked her if Kenn was responding
to her. She said, " Oh, yes. I had to pull off one of the
patches for the monitor that was stuck to his chest and some
hair. After I pulled it off he let out a loud sound
to let me know he didn't like that. He also made a sound
when I was changing him or just after changing him. He also
opens his eyes when I say his name." I was excited to hear this.
She said he is doing good.
They have put him on a type of air mattress so his skin doesn't break
down with a sore. His skin looks great. He has the oxygen mask off
and has just the oxygen piece that goes in his nose. They hope to get
him off oxygen by tomorrow. I visited him this morning and he sounded
raspy. The nurse taking care of him suctioned him. I had to work with
him to get his mouth open. He didn't want anything in there. The
stuff that she was able to get out. He then sounded much better. She
did the suctioning 2 times while I was there. She also let me use a
green sponge stick to clean out his mouth, which is starting to look
better now. He does some big sigh noises or moan noises when he yawns.
He's back to his 4 feedings again and tolerating it well. Both of
his arms are alittle relaxed because they aren't tightly bent and on
his chest. The nurse said there's a possibllity he might be
discharged on Fri. but that depends on if he's off the oxygen and
still doing good.
Some have been asking how am I doing with getting everything done and
how am I holding up. I was alittle scared for him on Friday but now I'm
getting excited by the way he is responding again. As for getting the
things done around the house. Well, I had 3 tons of wood pellets
arrive last week and the boys put the bags in the basement, so we're
set for the winter. I got my water pump fixed on my car but still need
to address the tires. I'm getting a loan to get the roof reshingled.
So things are slowly getting done. There's still things on the list
but they will get done in due time. I complain some days because this
is a hard road to walk down, but I ask God to forgive me because He
has blessed me so much. Thanks so much for your prayers and concern
for us.
Carol
