Tuesday, September 6th update
Kenn turned 52 on the 4th of this month. He still
has a cast on both feet and his right arm. On either
Friday night or Saturday night, Labor Day weekend, two
CNA's heard him talk to them. One had asked him how
old he was going to be on his birthday. He responded
very quietly that he didn't know. A few seconds later
he said 30. The CNA that told me this on Monday afternoon
was so excited she got to hear him talk. He talks very
quietly, so you have to be very close. Even the CNA's
that work with him in the morning are hearing him trying
to talk. On Monday afternoon and evening he was relaxing
for the CNA when told to and he opened his hand to let her
put the cone splint on and then to take it off when it was
time. He is starting to repond more, which is great to
hear.
No results on the EEG yet. We're still waiting for them.
When our daughter, her husband and I were talking about
leaving on Monday night after they had put Kenn to bed, he
started to get a little upset and there were a few tears
running down his cheek. I bent down and quietly talked to
him and stroked his face. He relaxed and closed his eyes.
We also turned the lights down so he could sleep. We realized
if it's hard to leave him now, it will be even harder when
he's talking more.
We are starting to look into places to move him when the time
comes. We're not sure when this will be.
Carol
