July 4th
Kenn had a cast put on his right foot this past
week. This is to correct the problem he has of
his right heel not wanting to flatten all the
way on the floor. The cast will be taken off at least
once each week to check his skin to make sure
there is no breaking down, which means no
sores starting. They have had good success with this in other
patients.
He has had quite a few visitors this weekend. His uncle,
Keith Winrich, from Iowa visited him
and was amazed at how he looked and how he
responded.
Kenn does seem to look at the board I put up on his wall
above his bed that has pictures on it. He is trying to
smile at times in response to conversations I have with
him on the phone. I can see him wanting to respond more to
us but he gets frustrated because he can't.
The next staff meeting at Juneau for Kenn is Thursday, July 21,
at 1:00 p.m. Any family members that would like to attend can.
Just plan at least 2 hours for this as this is about
how long they have been lasting.
Carol
